According to The New York Times, if Donald Trump takes back the White House in 2024, he and his allies are planning “a sweeping expansion of presidential power” to “concentrate far greater authority directly in [Trump’s] hands.” 

Trump’s plans would completely subvert our democracy and upend our government as we know it.

This raises the stakes for winning Congress and the White House next year, and it raises the stakes for reaching all of our goals. And we have an important one coming up on Monday -- will you make a contribution right now?

If Trump reclaims the White House next year, he wants to:

• Take over Justice Department criminal investigations 
• Put the FCC and FTC under presidential control
• Refuse funding to any programs he doesn’t like, which could be anything from environmental protections to Social Security and Medicare
• Make it easier to fire any government officials who don’t promise him loyalty

We saw what Trump was capable of during his four years in the Oval Office, culminating with the January 6th insurrection. We can’t afford for him to return to power and wreak more havoc on our democracy.

This isn’t an issue of politics, John -- this is an issue of our values as Americans.
