Our Mama Bear Workshops will give an overview of the current events and transparency issues that are in North Carolina Public Schools. They also educate mama and papa bears on how they can get involved in protecting our children from harmful curriculum and indoctrination.

This is a FREE event with a meal included. Visit our Hickory or Greensboro event pages to register, or for more information on our speakers.

2. DAILY SIGNAL: Constitution and 'gender-affirming' care don't mix

"The U.S. House Judiciary Committee held a hearing Thursday on 'The Dangers and Due Process Violations of "Gender-Affirming Care" for Children' and exposed how children are being coerced by adults in positions of authority into life-altering and medically questionable “gender transition” drugs and procedures without anyone having a full understanding of their impact, including the doctors who prescribe and perform them.

The hearing began in a rather unusual way—with a podcast. In a brief clip, Dr. Blair Peters, a self-described 'queer surgeon' at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, explained that in the field of 'gender medicine,' they are 'just kind of learning and figuring out what works.'

He went on to say, 'We know almost nothing about these outcomes,' prompting Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., to describe the clip as 'nightmarish,' a form of 'barbarism,' and proof that these medical procedures should be prohibited by law."

3. IFFNC: Sister organization files amicus brief in important Texas v. Becerra case

Our sister organization, the Institute for Faith and Family, has recently filed another amicus brief in an important case currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Amicus briefs are documents submitted to courts to help justices navigate the complex legal components of cases. In particular, IFFNC's amicus briefs are one of the ways we fight to protect your pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious freedom values via influencing major judicial decisions that impact our state.

Here's a section from the intro of our Texas v. Becerra brief:

"The First Amendment has never been confined within the walls of a church, as if it were a wild animal needing to be caged. On the contrary, the Constitution broadly guarantees liberty of religion and conscience. Liberty extends beyond individuals to associations like the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) and the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA), co-plaintiffs in this case with the State of Texas. These associations consist of medical professionals who wish to conduct business with integrity, consistent with conscience, ethics, and religious faith. Not everyone shares those values but cutting conscience out of the medical profession is a frightening prospect for patients, doctors, and other medical personnel. This is particularly true following the Supreme Court’s decision returning abortion regulation to the states. Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, 142 S. Ct. 2228, 2243 (2022).

Now, in a brazen end-run around Dobbs, the Department of Health and Human Services ('HHS') has issued Guidance under the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA), 42 U.S.C.S. § 1395dd, demanding that providers perform abortions regardless of state law and directly contrary to EMTALA’s statutory requirement to consider the welfare of an unborn child when stabilizing a pregnant woman (the Mandate')."

4. WRAL: 'Mama bears' may be the 2024 race's soccer moms.

"In many election cycles, there's a snappy shorthand used to describe the type of voters who may help decide the winner. Think soccer moms or security moms. Even NASCAR dads.

And now, the 'mama bears.'"

5. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Planned Parenthood seeks injunction for two sections of NC abortion law

"Planned Parenthood and a Duke Health doctor target two pieces of North Carolina's new abortion law for an injunction. One involves a documentation requirement for doctors using abortion drugs. The other requires abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy to take place in a hospital."

Weekly Prayer: NC Officials

LORD, you also have instructed us to pray for our governing officials, and we come to you in the spirit of this petition. We pray for our state government and its executive, legislative, and judicial servants. May they indeed be servants unto the people, and govern in a manner that protects liberty and virtue. In the same spirit, we pray for public servants across our local governments. May they all heed your mandate in Romans 13:4 to be in positions of authority as "God's servant" and for the "good" of the public. They govern in what we confess are difficult times. May they plead with you to give them wisdom, and may your grace to govern wisely be poured out on them.

Protect us from the oppression and loss of freedoms that other countries have experienced, and help us to value and preserve freedom, which we know comes only from You.

"I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt.  I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free." Acts 7:34

Amen
