Sensing blood in the water, the far right fringe group Club for Growth, who support insurrectionists and Freedom Caucus nutjobs for Congress, announced their commitment to spend over $20 million to prop up one of their most useful idiots: Lauren Boebert.

A significant portion of Club for Growth’s $20 million spending spree will be used to attempt to save Lauren Boebert’s flailing campaign, as she is one of the GOP’s most vulnerable and most erratic incumbents.

The new spending commitment comes on the heels of Boebert’s anemic Q2 fundraising numbers, in which Adam Frisch, her likely Democratic challenger, raised over three times what Boebert managed to bring in. And in Q1 of this year, the same thing happened.

But while Frisch leaving Boebert in the dust on fundraising is great and welcome news, his money advantage can disappear quickly when dark money right wing billionaires get involved – people like Peter Thiel and Jeff Yass who bankroll extremist candidates who share their toxic views. These men see politics as a game of chess, and the politicians and voters merely as pawns to move around as they see fit.

That is why an independent group like American Muckrakers is so critical when going up against foes like Boebert. Our game plan is simple, but effective:

Hold Boebert accountable by responding to tips, doing in-depth research, and keeping up the pressure on Boebert by continuing to litigate our defamation lawsuit.
Expand our in-district footprint with more billboards and more digital messaging to independents, Democrats, and moderate Republican voters.
Rapid response to Boebert’s many controversies, liabilities, and scandals to persuade key voters to vote against her or abstain from voting for her.

Our strategy brings creativity, fine-tuned messaging, and an outside-the-box approach to this contest that no amount of Republican dark money can effectively counter. Groups like Club for Growth may have the money to spend, but they have absolutely nothing to offer voters.

As the saying goes, you can’t polish a turd. And in Boebert’s case, trying to buff her rancid and repulsive reputation is indeed a fool’s errand. We will win, and the billionaire bigwigs will have wasted millions of dollars that would have been better spent fueling one of their private jets.

We know we ask a lot for your support, but it’s because we don’t rely on one or two mega donors to wire millions of dollars into our bank account.
