Autism Speaks awards $328,000 of funding for autism research

Autism Speaks has awarded $148,000 in funding to autistic researchers through our new Predoctoral Fellowship Program for Autistic Scientists and $180,000 to researchers studying auditory processing disorder through the Royal Arch Research Assistance grant. This research will lead to improved interventions and better quality of life for autistic people facing speech perception and social interaction challenges, sensory over-responsivity and autistic burnout.

Autism Speaks convenes autism advocates from 33 countries for bi-annual meeting

Advocates from 33 countries gathered in New York City for the 6th biennial Advocacy Leadership Network (ALN) meeting to share their successes and best practices in promoting autism awareness and improving the lives of autistic individuals and their families around the world. The ALN aims to enhance global advocacy efforts, foster collaboration and promote initiatives that support autistic individuals and their families, contributing to a more inclusive world for those with autism.

Accelerating delivery of solutions for adult quality of life needs, including transition, employment, housing and health and wellness

The Cleveland Foundation awards Autism Speaks $1M grant to support transition-age youth

The Cleveland Foundation recently awarded a grant to Autism Speaks that will improve the outcomes for autistic youth transitioning to adulthood. The grant will help to support the work of a three-year pilot in which The MetroHealth System, Autism Speaks and Milestones Autism Resources will partner to build a model of coordinated medical, behavioral and social transition planning that can be scaled and replicated in other locations. This collaborative effort holds the potential to significantly enhance the lives of transition-age youth, promoting inclusivity and support within Ohio and beyond.

A new podcast offers autism information and resources in Spanish

Autism Speaks has launched a new podcast, “Hablemos Autismo” (We Speak Autism), for the Spanish-speaking autism community. Featuring parents, autistic advocates and professionals, the podcast raises awareness about the unique experiences of Hispanic and Latino families and is a reliable source of information for Spanish speakers looking to learn about autism.
