Your support could make all the difference.

Dear John

Next Wednesday we're handing in our 300,000 strong plastic pollution petition to 10 Downing Street – would you like us to include your name?

Why next week? The government is about to re-write many of the rules that protect our environment. So we want to make sure they hear loud and clear that they need to include much more action to save our oceans from the scourge of plastic pollution.

Before we hand it in, do you have a minute to add your name to make it as powerful as possible?

Scientists have found microplastics everywhere: from the food we eat to the water we drink, and even the air we breathe. And recent research suggests we could be eating a credit card’s worth of plastic each week [1].

Plastic pollution has also been linked to the death of precious marine life – from seabirds to critically endangered turtles.

Ever since David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II helped bring plastic pollution to the nation's attention, there's been a tidal wave of support. And with the backing of Friends of the Earth supporters like you we’ve made real progress – like securing cross-party support to end non-essential single-use plastics.

Right now we have the opportunity to push the government even further. The new Environment Bill is their chance to make good on their promise to strengthen environmental regulations after Brexit. So please take a minute today to help heap on the pressure.

When hundreds of thousands of us join forces, we’re no longer a drop in the ocean. We become the sea change.

Thank you,

Denis Fernando
Plastics campaigner
