Friend, Four decades ago, when Norman Lear founded People For the American Way with Congresswoman Barbara Jordan and others, he had the vision to create a multiracial, multigenerational organization that fought against authoritarianism, division, hate, and intolerance in this country. His vision has led People For to where we are today. Alongside supporters like you, we are ready to fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way at every opportunity. Today, in honor of Norman’s 101st birthday, we’ve set a bold goal of 101 gifts by July 31 from supporters like you to power our critical advocacy campaigns. Make a gift today >> Although attacks from the Far Right are just as dangerous and deceitful since People For’s beginnings, Norman remains as passionate and committed as ever to our country’s ideals of freedom, equality, opportunity, and justice for all. But like you, he understands that our country is at a critical crossroads as our human rights are constantly under threat from the Far Right. Together, we’ve watched Trump do everything in his power to stack the courts in favor of the wealthy and powerful—and the profound impact this has had in recent SCOTUS decisions that overturned Roe v. Wade, undermined LGBTQ+ rights, tore apart affirmative action policies, and more. Also like you, Norman won’t give up. We have the opportunity in the months ahead to take back our courts by confirming fair-minded judges, to fight for the freedom to learn by confronting the Far Right’s censorship, and to expand voting rights. But to win these fights, we urgently need more resources to power our compelling media and organizing campaigns. With gratitude to Norman for all he’s done to move us closer to a society in which “We the People” truly means ALL the people, I’m asking that you dig deep and make a gift today to support our campaign for a more just country. Thank you for helping us celebrate Norman Lear’s incredible legacy by contributing to our goal of 101 gifts in his name. Zach, People For the American Way
