Providing information about Medicaid unwinding and reminding families to update their contact information with Medicaid will enable them to respond to communications from the state Medicaid office during unwinding. Lack of healthcare coverage is a health equity concern for students. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) offers resources in English and Spanish that you can share with your communities to help raise awareness about renewing coverage. School nurses bridge education and healthcare and deliver quality, cost-effective healthcare in the school setting that supports student learning and academic achievement. Each state has different methods for applying Medicaid coverage for school nursing services. Sustainable payment systems to sufficiently support school nursing services are necessary to equitably help all youth address health barriers to learning and meet their full educational potential.
