Team,
The House GOP is trying to gut the Endangered Species Act among other critical programs.
As a co-chair of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) Caucus and fighter for wildlife, this hits close to home for me. John created the Endangered Species Act and considered his work on the act to be one of his proudest moments.
It’s up to us to protect our wildlife and the habitats they depend on. This shouldn’t be seen as a political issue, but instead a common sense issue.
In the 50 years of ESA, the law has created a variety of solutions to successfully conserve endangered species. 99% of species protected under the ESA have been saved from extinction and 91% of species are recovering in population size.
Still, we are in an unprecedented biodiversity crisis. Right now, one million species are at risk of extinction, more than in any other period in human history, and recent studies show that 40% of animals, including the monarch butterfly, and 34% of plants in the nation are at risk of extinction. We should be expanding conservation efforts, not gutting them.
Will you stand with me to save the Endangered Species Act and protect our wildlife? Add your name right next to mine here >>>
Thank you for your support,
– Debbie
