We’ve got our work cut out for us in this year’s election. Republicans are trying to turn Virginia red — and they’re doing it with dark money. Dark money is any funds spent by organizations that can take in unlimited amounts without disclosing their donors (think super PACs).

While dark money in elections isn’t new, the amount being spent against Virginia Democrats like Mark Warner is alarming. In 2018, outside organizations spent about $15 million to help Republicans in Virginia elections. And more than $180,000 has already been spent by pro-GOP organizations in the 2020 cycle — and we’re barely six weeks into the year!

Mark also faces multiple Republican candidates intent on taking his Senate seat and undoing progress in the Commonwealth. Plus, the well-funded Trump Victory Initiative is pouring money into the Commonwealth to flip our state back to red.
