John,

It hit nearly 100 degrees in the McDonald's I work at. It's a health and safety issue, and the bosses are too concerned about their bottom lines to fix it.

Workers are being hit the hardest by climate change -- whether we work indoors or outdoors -- and we know that the heat will only get worse in the years to come. A construction worker in Houston named Felipe Pascual died from heatstroke while Texas has passed a law that will ban cities from requiring water breaks. A farm worker named Efrain López García died from heatstroke in Florida's triple-digit heat.

So we took matters into our own hands and went on strike, demanding that McDonald's fix the A/C so that we can work without worrying about heat stroke. Join me: contact your Congressional representatives and demand they support legislation that will protect workers like me from extreme heat in the workplace.

CEOs and corporations have made it pretty clear they won't listen to us unless we make them. That's why across the country, workers like me are uniting and many are even going on strike to demand dignity and respect. Whether we're Hollywood writers and actors, Starbucks baristas, UPS drivers, auto workers, or McDonald's workers, we're reminding our bosses who has the power -- workers.

I'm demanding safe workplaces where we're paid fairly and treated with respect. Join me by telling Congress: climate change is threatening workers' lives. Pass extreme heat protections now!
