Friend,
I’m writing to you today as I finish my last week in session before Congress’ summer break, and I’m not going to sugar-coat things––the Republican majority is making it impossible to get any work done that will actually support families across our country. In their words, they’re prioritizing “common sense” legislation, but let me ask you:
Is it “common sense” to roll back environmental protections when the majority of our country is under extreme heat alerts?
Is it “common sense” to fight against capping the price of live-saving prescription drugs for those who need them?
Is it “common sense” to end the fundamental right of citizenship for everyone born in this country?
And is it “common sense” to hand over your party’s power to 20 of the most extreme members of Congress, letting them delay Congressional business over unfounded impeachment attempts?
I don’t think so.
I think common sense is acknowledging the temperatures rising around us and finding ways to combat humans’ contribution to climate change. I think common sense is making needed medications available so that everyday Americans don’t have to choose between their medicine and paying rent. And I think common sense is prioritizing work that provides relief and support to people across the country.
If your common sense looks more like mine, I urge you to donate to my 2024 campaign fund today and help me ensure that Democrats take the House majority back.
A government that works for the best interests of the people–that's common sense to me.
