Friend,
Food insecurity is on the rise in Burkina Faso — but UNICEF’s response is ensuring that children like Abdul Razak can recover from severe acute malnutrition and get a second chance at a healthy life.
In Burkina Faso, people like Aminata Zabré, who oversees a UNICEF-supported health center in Kaya, have treated thousands of children facing malnutrition. As part of UNICEF’s country-wide response, she and her team offer ongoing nutrition screenings and send severely malnourished children home with therapeutic food to restore them to health.
Aminata has seen up-close how rising rates of severe acute malnutrition have increased demand for nutrition screenings in the health center, especially as conflict has displaced over 2 million people and caused mass school closures.
