As part of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ crusade against the truth, the Florida Board of Education is telling teachers to straight up lie to school children.
The board wants kids to be taught that there were benefits to slavery, and that Black Americans who were enslaved “developed skills.” As if slavery was a boon to Black people in the South.
That interpretation is — of course — a total fabrication and an outright lie.
As a Black congressman from the South, Hank is appalled by the news about Florida’s new teaching standards. Please, John — will you make a contribution to help Hank set the record straight and stop this hijacking of our history?

If DeSantis is trying to force teachers to lie to our children, then we thought it would be important to share a few things with you about DeSantis. None of the following bullet points are true. But we’re sure DeSantis will be fine with them, because he supports outright lies.
- Ron DeSantis doesn’t sleep. He just plugs himself into a computer at night, where a primitive AI system feeds him horrific ideas of how to screw over Floridians.
- Ron DeSantis has never read a book. He fills his free time by staring at himself in the mirror and laughing.
- Ron DeSantis is an alien occupying a human skinsuit, which explains why he’s so awkward whenever he has to go off script.
But John, none of the lies we can cook up against DeSantis are as scary as the truth: DeSantis is a megalomaniac who thinks so highly of his own mediocre intellect and completely ineffective policies, that he’s willing to hurt every single one of his Floridian constituents if it will help him win favor with right-wing voters nationwide.
