Dear John,

As we revel in the fleeting, steamy days of summer, I’m inspired by a quote from The Nap Ministry: “You don’t have to always be building, healing, doing and hustling. There is power and room to just be. To rest. To flow. To daydream.”

Rest is a part of our work, and a crucial one. It provides the space to reconnect with oneself and to remind us of why we’re in this fight.

And in reconnecting with oneself, we also find immense power in reconnecting with others. At the Ms. Foundation, we’re doing a lot of that this summer. This month, President & CEO Teresa C. Younger traveled to Rwanda for the Women Deliver 2023 Conference to connect with feminists from across the world. In August, we’re heading to Martha’s Vineyard for our annual Ms. on Martha’s event, where we’ll connect with those passionate about the movement for gender and racial justice.

In the dog days of summer, I’m wishing you the space for reconnecting with yourself and your community.

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane
Chief Advancement Officer
