It was great to join residents and volunteers at the recent âMill on the Hillâ event in July.
Over 1000 people were able to enjoy the traditional festival parade along Sneinton Dale as well as singing, dancing and poetry at Greenâs Mill and a range of food and drink. There was a hotly contested âBake offâ event as well as lots of stalls including one run by Sneinton Tenants Residents Association raising money for a defibulator to be stationed outside the Dales Centre Library.
Your local councillors are grateful to those involved in organising this successful event.
In June, local councillors, council officers and partners held a âDay of Actionâ in Dales Ward.
This involved lots of âLitter Picksâ, a tea, cake and advice event for older people at Kingston Court, an information event at the Dales Centre Library which included an opportunity to receive a Covid jab, a âclean upâ on the streets around Cosby Rd in Sneinton and a police speed check. The litter picks involved children and staff from 3 of our local schools, Parkdale Academy, Edale Rise Academy and Sneinton C of E Academy.
The 3 Community Litter Picks involved more than 20 different volunteers cleaning up our streets and green spaces. It was great to be working alongside so many different people seeking to improve Sneinton, Bakersfield and Colwick.
Funds have been identified to improve both the road surface and the pavements on Highcliffe Rd which are in a bad state of repair.
As part of this work the pavement will be divided to make it clear where vehicles should park and which area is safe for pedestrians. In addition, 2 trees will be replaced on this street and an area of planting will be introduced at the Sneinton Dale end of the street to improve the environment further. Work will start here during the school summer holidays.
Work will also be carried out in the autumn to improve the road surface on Watson Avenue in Bakersfield.
Thanks for putting your trust in us once more at the local elections in May. We are honoured to be elected to serve the area once more.
We hold advice surgeries at the Dales Centre Library every Wednesday between 6 and 7pm and every Saturday between 10.30 and 11.30am.
No appointment is necessary and we would be pleased to see you.
