What could be worth the loss of 182 acres of land — including 120 acres of pristine forest and three acres of ecologically vital wetlands? According to Congress, it's the construction of a $505 million prison. Experts say the construction of the proposed federal prison development in Letcher County, KY, would likely release thousands of pounds of greenhouse gasses into the environment, house up to 1,200 people & will only perpetuate the over-incarceration of marginalized communities.
