It's Black Family Month!
July is Black Family Month and to celebrate, we invited Girls For A Change parents out to have fun with us. We had a great time together!
"I want to thank GFAC families for trusting and working on advancing Black girls in education, health, and self-improvement. Black Family Month encourages us to support our loved ones, reflect with one another, and invest in and inspire the next generation. While all parents appreciate family and friends who help support their journey, Black parents take pride in a special sense of community. The community is extremely important in supporting the journey of parenthood, and GFAC is the Aunite, Nana, Big Mama, etc. Our goal and roles are to be in the community and stay the course with parents all through their journey. Parenting can be challenging and feel isolating. But the battle is not so hard when a family (community) pulls together. We celebrate Black Family Month by recognizing our Black parents who keep and shape Black families. Leaning on family is extremely important. Ultimately, the GFAC community offers different perspectives and examples for children to look up to, creating new and sustaining traditions and culture."

We'e coming to the end of our Summer programs, which means our Annual Market Day and Closing Ceremony events are right around the corner!

Each year we transform our center into a market and welcome the community to shop and interact with the participants of Camp Diva Leadership Academy. Market Day is Wednesday, August 2, from 4pm to 7pm. What better way to celebrate Black Business Month than by supporting young, Black entrepreneurs?

Our Annual Closing Ceremony for Summer Programs is Friday, August 4th, from 1pm to 4pm. The ceremony will take place at Orchard House School, and registration is required. Join us to celebrate the completion of our summer programs, honor participants for their commitment, and say goodbye to Summer.
