All
Washingtonians have a right to fair wages and just treatment at work. Our
leaders must hold employers accountable when they fail to protect their
workers.

After hearing of bad business practices at two Yakima orchards, I stepped
in. Together with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries
(L&I), we uncovered that hard-working farmworkers were consistently
underpaid.

I filed a lawsuit against the orchard owners, resulting in more than 400
workers being compensated $500,000 in back wages and interest.

I will continue to stand up for all workers in our state. Moreover, I will
fight to ensure that all Washingtonians are paid every dollar they are
owed, including interest on the wages they were denied.

As Governor, I will work with state partners like L&I to keep holding
employers accountable.
