Bergman is showboating, grandstanding, and not telling the full story.

Rep. Bergman issued a press release demanding the Forest Service reopen closed campgrounds. But that's not the full story — He voted for an 18% cut to the Forest Service.

The hypocrisy is astounding. You can't slash someone's tires, then honk at them for not moving. In his recent press release, Rep. Jack Bergman highlighted his 'effort' to address campground closures in the UP. However, it is important to dig deeper and understand his true stance. Congressman Bergman's support for partisan appropriations cuts to federal agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and Forest Service, is concerning. These cuts range from 11% to 18% and could have detrimental effects on the UP, Northern Michigan, and the nation. Reducing funding to agencies that support us will do more harm than good. The letter sent to the Forest Service fails to acknowledge the potential consequences of decreased funding. Congressman Bergman's hypocrisy and dishonesty is not surprising, but it is disheartening. We must speak out against these cuts, as they could result in significant losses beyond the closure of six campsites mentioned in his press release. These funding cuts could impact our natural resources, wildlife preservation, and recreational activities. We must protect these assets for future generations. We must hold our representatives accountable and demand transparency. Shortsighted budget cuts should not jeopardize our communities and the environment. Let's find sustainable solutions that prioritize the preservation and accessibility of our natural resources. Together, we can secure a bright future for the UP, Northern Michigan, and the nation.

It's critical we elect candidates who are committed to securing funding where it's needed.
