Hi John,

I’m Meghana and I’m coming to you from Sunrise Dallas to share some huge Green New Deal news: our hub just won FREE TRANSIT FOR K-12 STUDENTS in Dallas!!!!

This win comes after a year of collecting over 1,000 petition signatures, talking to 100s of public transit riders, disrupting DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) Board meetings, giving 60+ speeches at 10 public comment periods, turning out 100s of visitors to meetings, and making a ridiculous amount of calls to our leaders.

70% of Dallas County students are economically disadvantaged. This win will immediately provide relief for hundreds of thousands of students across the metro area. This win is for them.

I’m excited to share our story with our movement so that people like you and me can continue building and winning GND for Communities campaigns that bring the vision of the Green New Deal to every city and town across the country.

I’ve been organizing with Sunrise Dallas since May 2022 and this campaign has been one of the most challenging and the most rewarding things I’ve been a part of yet. It can be incredibly hard to get leaders to act on the concerns of our people. But if I learned anything from this campaign, it’s that if you build people power — they can’t ignore you. And that’s what we did. We kept fighting until the city and district delivered.

My fellow Sunrisers across the country are preparing to do the same in their own neighborhoods. If you want to ensure their campaign launches from Philly to Kansas City are strong and want to help my hub, Sunrise Dallas, continue building power, please consider splitting a donation to Sunrise Dallas and the Sunrise Green New Deal for Communities fund.
