I spoke on the House floor in support of an amendment to add a direct flight from San Antonio to Washington, DC.
Unfortunately, the amendment did not pass, but there is still another option. I am continuing to work with my colleagues in the Senate to include the direct flight in the final Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization bill.
I look forward to working with my colleagues in the San Antonio Congressional Delegation, Congressmen Greg Casar (D-TX-35), Joaquin Castro (D-TX-20), Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23), and Chip Roy (R-TX-21), as well as Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), to deliver for the families of Military City, USA.

I joined the Greenlights Grant Initiative (GGI) Congressional Advisory Board. GGI is a project of Matthew McConaughey's just keep livin Foundation aimed at helping school districts nationwide access billions of dollars in federal funding made possible by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which I helped pass into law last year.

I held a bipartisan, bicameral roundtable and press conference at Laredo's World Trade Bridge with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Senator Cruz and I discussed expediting the Presidential permitting process for international bridges.
Bridges are an economic lifeline for our border communities - they facilitate international trade, commerce, and tourism. Senator Cruz and I, along with U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23), Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX-34), and Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-TX-15), are working hard to expedite the Presidential bridge permitting process and avoid unnecessary delays in bridge construction. Laredo is the nation's #1 inland port of entry, and our infrastructure is critical to achieving that.

One of my priorities in Congress is to improve the quality of life for South Texans. This week, I’d like to share with you several transportation grant opportunities that my office can help with: - Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) Program
- The Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program aims to advance and support the reconnection of communities divided by transportation infrastructure – with a priority on helping disadvantaged communities improve access to daily needs (jobs, schools, healthcare, grocery stores, and recreation).
- Neighborhood Access and Equity (NEA) Program
- The primary goal of the Neighborhood Access and Equity Program is to assist economically disadvantaged or underserved communities in planning and construction activities.
- PROTECT Discretionary Program
- This Department of Transportation funding will ensure surface transportation resilience to natural hazards, including climate change, sea level rise, flooding, extreme weather events, and other natural disasters, through support of planning activities, resilience improvements, community resilience and evacuation routes, and support for at-risk coastal infrastructure.
