Did you hear about all the work I have done to support farmers and reduce hunger recently?
Earlier this month, my colleague Congresswoman Nikema Williams and I are building on our work to combat hunger and food insecurity through the Higher Education Hunger Through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (OHH Snap) Act.
This act will make it easier for low-income college students with an EFC to participate in SNAP. College is a bridge to success and financial stability, so no one should have to struggle with food insecurity during their studies.
About 10% of Connecticut residents use SNAP, and I am proud to uplift their voices and look into how we can use the Farm Bill to look at the ways food insecurity, education, and nutrition are connected. I invited the House Democratic Task Force on Nutrition and Agriculture to Connecticut to discuss these critical issues, and I look forward to working with them to shape our Farm Bill priorities.
Food insecurity has always been a key issue for me, and I am proud of my work year after year to work towards a world in which NO American goes hungry.
However, this work puts a target on my back. The House Republican campaign arm already has attack ads out against me. If you want to flip the House blue and keep working on the issues that really matter, consider chipping in so we can fight back and keep CT-05 blue!
