If you’re not from Colorado, you may have been introduced to Senator Cory Gardner when he voted to acquit Donald Trump in the Senate impeachment trial. As it happens, the Senator is up for re-election this year.
Here are some of the reasons Colorado needs a new Senator this year.
1. Because He Loves Donald Trump
Cory Gardner didn’t seem like much of a Trump fan in 2016, memorably calling him a ‘buffoon.’ Since Hillary Clinton won Colorado in 2016, you’d expect that Cory would respect the wishes of his constituents and keep up the pressure. Well, according to FiveThirtyEight, Cory now votes with Trump about 89.5 percent of the time. What’s more, he voted against having witnesses at the Senate impeachment trial and then voted to acquit!
2. Because He Hates The Planet
Cory may pretend to be a supporter of public lands and conservation, but no one will be able to enjoy our national parks if we all, you know, die of global warming. His environmental record is full of shady attempts to deprive conservation agencies of their funding - and, of course, tons of favors for the oil and gas companies that are willing to drown Miami so their CEOs can go to the same restaurants as Jeff Bezos.
3. Because He Also Hates Your Choice
When Cory isn’t acting as a willing accomplice in the destruction of our planet, he’s also got a long-standing interest in what you are doing with your uterus. He’s voted to defund Planned Parenthood multiple times AND he voted to confirm anti-choice loud creep Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Don’t worry if you get pregnant, though - he also wants to repeal the ACA so pregnancy can be a preexisting condition again. Did I say ‘don’t worry’ or ‘do worry’ just now?
Cory Gardner just started letting us all down, but he’s been a drag on his constituents for a lot longer. He won his Senate seat in 2014 by a tiny margin and has been breaking promises ever since - we can flip this seat if we make sure every Coloradan can vote.
Help us register new voters in Colorado and get rid of one of the biggest liars in the Senate.
