KnowTheChain has released its 2023 Food & Beverage Benchmark, looking at the disclosure and performance of 60 of the world’s largest global F&B companies on their efforts to address forced labour in supply chains.
 
Only half of the companies benchmarked scored higher than 10 out of 100 possible points, and none scored higher than 56. The average score across the sector was just 16. Read more here, or explore the data.

Freedom Fund has launched the Funding Frontline Impact initiative, to share knowledge and tools to help other funders invest in organizations that are directly impacted by forced labor, or who work closely with communities where exploitation is prevalent.

Humanity United has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID’s) Center for Conflict and Violence Prevention to inform USAID’s localization and inclusive peacebuilding efforts.
Dr. Bryan Sims, Senior Manager, Peacebuilding, published an article on the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute's WritePeace Blog on the importance of non-violent movements in building lasting peace and security.

Kehinde Togun, Managing Director, Public Engagement, and Kate Hixon, Advocacy Director for Africa at Amnesty International USA, published a op-ed in Foreign Policy on the need to hold Ethiopia accountable for its human rights violations.

The Washington Post reports that according to survivor accounts, conflict in western Sudan is taking on an increasing resemblance the atrocities in Darfur twenty years ago.

A new study in the journal Nature Food finds that more than 60 percent of food consumed within the U.S. that is at risk of being produced by forced labor is produced domestically, due to widespread worker exploitation.
