John, in case you missed it, there was more disturbing news out of Florida last week.
Per Ron DeSantis’ extreme “Stop Woke Act,” the Florida Board of Education approved appalling new standards for how Black History is taught in schools—including forcing students to hear the lie that there were “benefits” to slavery. Shamefully, we still haven’t heard a word from Congressman Lawler. I’m not surprised—time after time Mike Lawler refuses to speak out against the racism and other extremism in his own party—but his silence here is unconscionable. If forcing students to be taught that there were “benefits” to slavery isn’t enough to get Lawler to speak out, nothing will. He doesn’t deserve to represent this district for another second. We have our first end-of-month fundraising deadline coming up Monday; chip in $5 or whatever you can to send cowardly Lyin’ Lawler packing. >> If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Ron DeSantis and the extreme Republican Party are attempting to white-wash our history and erase the violence, trauma, and suffering that millions of enslaved people in our country were forced to endure. As a Black American, this is personal for me. The silence and complicity of politicians like Rep. Lawler has allowed the GOP to become more brazen, more vicious, and more extreme every day—to the point we’re living in a world where teachers are forced to teach the “both sides” version of slavery. If Mike Lawler is unwilling to hold extremists accountable, he’s unfit to serve in Congress. Chip in $5 or any amount that works for you to make sure my campaign has the resources to take on Lyin’ Lawler, reclaim our Democratic majority, and finally put a stop to dangerous GOP extremism. Thanks, Mondaire
