Team,

I wanted to make sure you saw this: I was recently invited on ABC News to talk about what it means to be a meteorologist in Congress at a time when the impacts of climate change are becoming clearer than ever.

Here’s a key takeaway: we need communication based on science and values. That lesson helped me build trust with my viewers as a meteorologist, and it helps me work across the aisle in Congress.

In the interview, I also noted that forecasts are indicating it could hit 100 degrees this week in IL-17. As a career meteorologist, I feel obligated to help keep people safe from this extreme weather – by providing trustworthy information that keeps Americans out of harm’s way.

And as I told ABC News, people often don’t trust politicians – sometimes rightly so. That’s why we need to focus on electing folks who have earned people’s trust before they get to Congress. I’m grateful to have earned the trust of my neighbors in IL-17 over the years, and I have no doubt that trust helped me get elected.

I’m heading towards another tough election in this swing district, and I’ll need all the grassroots support I can muster to fend off the GOP’s dark money machine.

Will you help keep a trusted communicator in Congress by chipping in $3?
