John,
Many people may not know this, but today commemorates a very important event—the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. This is a landmark piece of legislation that has bettered the lives of millions across our nation. |
The Americans with Disabilities Act is unquestionably one of the best and most important pieces of legislation to come out of Washington in the last 30+ years.
The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability and provides: - Protections for employment;
- Regulations for public entities in providing public accommodations; and
- Equal opportunity.
Today’s anniversary serves as a reminder of the impact we can have when we work together to better the lives of our fellow Americans. And let us remember the importance of electing principled leaders committed to doing the hard work necessary to make positive change in our communities.
This is a commitment we make to you – Democrats are working tirelessly to elect those principled leaders across our communities this municipal election cycle and to federal and state-wide offices next year. Please consider making a donation today to support those efforts. The Americans with Disabilities Act represents the best of what we can accomplish when we work together to do what’s right. Your CT Dems will continue to live by those values and make positive impacts in our communities. Best, Adrienne Billings-Smith Vice Chair |
