Team -- Alabama was ordered to give Black Alabamians a second congressional district, and right now, in front of our faces, they’re playing with the rules.
The Associated Press tweeted: Breaking: Alabama has refused to create a second majority-Black congressional district, a move that could defy a recent order from the U.S. Supreme Court to give minority voters a greater voice and trigger a renewed battle over the state's political map.
Eric Holder responded: See you in court.

With the ruling in Allen v. Milligan, Alabamian lawmakers were ordered to redraw their maps to add a second majority-Black congressional district but nevertheless decided to defy the United States Supreme Court. Though they play dirty, we can’t and won’t let this happen. Voters deserve to have their voices heard, deserve to know that their democracy is being safeguarded, and deserve to trust that their lawmakers can follow the rule of law.
We must not back down now, the only option we have is to push ahead.
We’ve come so far in our journey for fair maps, and will not stand down because of the actions of lawless lawmakers. In times like these, where we stare into the face of power-hungry scofflaws who pretend to be statesmen, we cannot lose any of our momentum.
