We're demanding justice for asylum seekers in Texas.

ACLU Supporter, did you see our last email?

If you haven't already heard, we learned last week that Gov. Abbott's Operation Lone Star initiative has reportedly directed state troopers to set up barbed wire traps and, unbelievably, push children back into the Rio Grande if they try to cross it.

Thousands of ACLU supporters, including people just like you, have joined us in calling on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to take immediate action to stop collaboration with Texas' racist, anti-immigrant initiative. But these horrific actions haven't stopped yet.

We'll never stop showing up to defend immigrants and asylum seekers, but we need your support to continue fighting against gross human rights violations, not just in Texas but across the country. Please, make a donation today to help us defend the rights of all people nationwide. <[link removed]>

ACLU Supporter –

Yesterday, we asked ACLU supporters like you to take action to protect the rights of people in south Texas in response to state troopers using barbaric, violent tactics to keep asylum seekers out of the country.

In case you missed the horrific news – originating from an officer's firsthand account – reports stated that Texas state troopers working under Gov. Greg Abbott's initiative Operation Lone Star had instructions to push children and nursing mothers back into the Rio Grande – the same river where Texas officials have been placing razor wire traps.

It's unimaginable, ACLU Supporter, but that's why your support is so critical. <[link removed]> Already, we're fighting back against unjust immigration policies in Texas and across the country:

* In April, we sent an open letter to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to defend pregnant and postpartum people and children from unsafe detention conditions.

* In May, we sued the Biden administration over its sweeping asylum ban, which prevents migrants from seeking safety in the U.S., and we argued the case in court this week.

* This month, we successfully settled a case halting all construction of a wall at the Southern border.

* Yesterday, ACLU supporters like you took action calling on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to halt any support to Operation Lone Star and to do everything in the federal government's power to ensure the removal of barbaric razor wire traps Texas placed in the Rio Grande.

ACLU Supporter, we can't do this work without your critical support. We have offices nationwide with lawyers, organizers, and volunteers who remain ready and relentless in the fight to protect people from inhumane border policies, but we need you with us.

Make a gift right now to ensure we have the necessary resources to support the rights and liberties of immigrants and asylum seekers in our border community and beyond. <[link removed]>

Thank you for supporting our work,

The ACLU Team

Our work to protect immigrants' rights and all civil liberties is only possible because of support like yours.
