Real Justice

John, we have another endorsement for you:

We’re proud to support the re-election of Robert Peters as state senator in Cook County, Illinois. However, we need your help to make sure he wins.

Will you make a $5 gift right now so Real Justice can support reformers like Robert Peters? Any amount you can sacrifice will help!

Robert’s fight for justice is driven by his life story. His birth mother was addicted to drugs and alcohol, and Robert was born deaf and with a massive speech impediment.

Thanks to the teachers and administrators at his public school, Robert gained full hearing by the age of eight and full speech by the age of twelve. His adoptive mother was a social worker, and his adoptive father was a civil rights lawyer. His parents’ work inspired him to fight for criminal justice reform.

After college, Robert became a community and political organizer in Chicago. Sadly, after the death of both of his parents, he was left grieving and unemployed, unable to pay his bills or obtain health insurance (due to pre-existing conditions).

Robert’s struggles only furthered his drive to help others. As a political organizer, Robert successfully required Cook County judges to set affordable bail amounts for all defendants, which led to a substantial reduction in the county’s jail population.

As a state senator, Robert advocates for the people in his community, fighting for criminal justice reform, creating clean energy jobs, and fighting for quality public education.

We can depend on Robert to continue fighting for justice reforms in Chicago. Our movement to transform our criminal legal system depends on having reformers like Robert in office, which is why we’re asking for your help today.

Chip in whatever you can and help us keep reform champions like Robert Peters in office so we can continue our critical work.

Thank you so much for your support,
