Earlier this year I joined striking writers in Culver City and heard
firsthand about their fight for a more fair contract.

writers.
The Barbie and Oppenheimer movies brought in a combined $235.5 million
this past weekend. The workers who make movies like these deserve their
fair share!
But TV and movie studio executives are trying to use technology as an
excuse to bust unions and leave workers behind.
The same executives who say they can’t afford to pay writers and actors
more are paying themselves tons. In 2022 alone, the two CEOs of Netflix
were paid over $50 million each. The Warner Bros. CEO was paid $39
million. The CEOs of Comcast and Paramount were both paid $32 million, and
Disney’s CEO was paid $24 million.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee and I are proud to stand with
the writers and actors currently on strike.

We will keep the media apprised of public support for this and I will
share your support with writers and actors next time I join them on the
picket line.
This isn’t just about Hollywood or getting our favorite TV shows back.
Across industries, CEOs and those at the very top are seeing skyrocketing,
record profits.
We need strong unions to stand against corporate greed in every industry.
As a consumer protection attorney, I’ve seen how healthy unions benefit
consumers -- they often push for things that keep all of us safer, like
better safety guidelines on airplanes or in hospitals.
These strikes are fundamentally about standing up to corporate power. [ [link removed] ]I
hope you’ll sign on in support.
