Meet Carl, an SAS legacy pledger No images? Click here John how long have you felt a connection to the ocean? For Carl, it's been decades: "I started surfing when I was 17 and lived in the East End. My friends and I used to travel to North Cornwall, North Devon – five of us all packed into a rattly old car, not knowing where we’d pitch up, often sharing surfboards. All too often we'd arrive to a messy beach, or raw sewage coming out into the ocean." As a member, Carl has fueled our ocean activism for years. Then this year, he claimed his free will from our partners at Farewill, and pledged a legacy gift to Surfers Against Sewage. "I'm sixty, and thinking about wills is inevitable as you grow older. SAS were offering free wills. And it got me thinking: "Well, why not leave them some money?" We can help you create an up-to-date, comprehensive will today, or update your will, for free. We're offering our supporters a FREE will worth £90. It's courtesy of our partnership with Farewill, an award-winning will writing platform. By pledging a gift, large or small, you're protecting the future of the ocean. Still living in London, Carl sees the issues impacting the ocean regularly: "I cycle by conservation areas near the Thames and the River Lea. And I always see plastic and oil leaks, lager cans and coffee cups. Always the same polluters too: Coca-Cola, McDonalds. But we've come a long way, and there's a lot more awareness. And it's charities like SAS that brought attention to the issues." "To be honest, a legacy gift wasn't something I had actively considered before. But if I'm going to do something, I believe it should be for an organisation that makes a real difference.
