My father, former Governor Bob Casey, believed that for our children to truly be free, we must ensure that their basic needs are met so that they have the opportunity to thrive.

As a state official and US Senator, I have fought many battles for our children. As we begin a new decade during a critical election year, it is time for the federal government to ensure that every child in America should have the freedom to reach her or his full potential. Kids deserve the freedom to be healthy, to be economically secure, to learn, to be safe from harm, and freedom from hunger.

It is time that we revive the true meaning of freedom for all citizens, and especially for our children, to give them a fair shot to achieve the future they deserve.

This month, I announced my Five Freedoms for America's Children initiative, and now I need your help to make my proposals a reality. If you believe every child deserves to feel safe and secure, with education, opportunity, and access to nutrition, will you add your name and show your support?

My Five Freedoms for America's Children plan identifies five basic freedoms that our society must guarantee to our Nation's children and recommends policy changes to address them.

While my plan focuses on policies for children themselves, supporting the well-being and economic security of families is critically important to this plan. Safe and affordable housing, a fair minimum wage, paid parental leave, and more are the foundation of a better future for children and families.

At a time when even Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are under attack from President Trump and his allies, this may seem like a difficult time to promote policies that serve the most vulnerable among us. However, I believe there is no more vital time than today to fight for the future of our children.
