SUPPORT THE U.S. RESOLUTION CALLING FOR AN END TO THE GLOBAL DOG AND CAT MEAT TRADE
TAKE ACTION HERE!
Dear John,
On July 20, 2023, an historic bipartisan resolution calling for countries around the world to end the slaughter of dogs and cats for meat was introduced into the U.S. Congress by Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), Representative Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL). The next step is for the resolution to be adopted by Congress.
TAKE ACTION HERE: URGE YOUR U.S. REPRESENTATIVES TO SUPPORT THE RESOLUTION CALLING FOR AN END TO THE GLOBAL DOG AND CAT MEAT TRADE
Every year, approximately 30 million dogs and 10 million cats are killed for meat globally. In 2018, the U.S. officially outlawed the slaughter of dogs and cats for meat in the FARM bill. With this resolution, the U.S. is now making a stand against the governments of countries that continue to allow these heinous acts.
“As an animal activist who has worked to expose these practices over the last four decades, I know first-hand how horrific it is to see dogs and cats tortured, abused, and slaughtered for meat. It is time we put an end to this across the globe,” said Chris DeRose, President and Founder of LCA. “With our presence in DC, LCA staff worked with Rep. Moskowitz to have this important resolution introduced and we will be leading efforts to have it passed by both chambers. It is vital for you to go to this link and email your Representatives and urge them to support the Dog and Cat Meat Resolution.”
The Dog and Cat Meat Resolution (H. Con. Res. 59 & S.Con.Res.16) is a strong statement of condemnation from the U.S. that can be used to politically pressure countries to outlaw dog and cat slaughter for meat.
If you live in the United States, go here to email your Representatives and urge them to support the Dog and Cat Meat Resolution.
Thank you for taking action on behalf of the animals,
