I want to share an op-ed I wrote in the Richmond Times-Dispatch

this week on canceling the August Recess.



While Republicans have been able to accomplish a lot as a House Majority this
year, there is too much work to be done to take a six-week vacation.



Can you believe that? Six weeks. Most Americans are lucky to get one or two
weeks off all year.



While many of my colleagues may want to leave for Summer vacation, I believe
that it’s my duty as your representative to devote my time to ensure that the
people’s work is completed.



That’s my job, and it’s a privilege to serve.



The American people deserve a Congress that consistently fulfills its
commitments and responsibilities, and a government that operates with
timeliness and efficiency.
