This month marks 58 years of Medicare and Medicaid, and frankly, if we want these popular programs that have given millions access to health care to exist for another 58 years, we need to win elections -- including in 2024.
Why? Because Democrats will fight for Medicare, Medicaid, and access to affordable health care. Republicans won’t.
It really is as simple as that.
Will you support candidates who will defend access to affordable health care in 2024?
Republicans have tried to make cuts to Medicare and Medicaid and repeal the Affordable Care Act dozens of times. And not a single Republican in the Senate voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, which lowered prescription costs and capped insulin at $35 a month for people on Medicare.
Washington Republicans have come for people's health care before, and you can bet they’ll do it again if they win control of the Senate and White House next year.
On the flipside, Democrats have fought to protect Medicare and Medicaid every time Republicans have threatened it. Every Senate Democrat voted to lower prescription costs for people on Medicare. And I’m leading an effort to make permanent Medicare telehealth benefits established during the pandemic to make it easier for people to connect with their doctors and get the care they need -- no matter where they live.
That’s why winning elections is so important. And it’s why we all need to get involved in whatever ways we can between now and Election Day -- whether that’s voting, volunteering, donating, or something else.
Today, I’m asking you to add your name and commit to getting involved in the 2024 elections and supporting candidates who will protect access to health care for all.
Mahalo,
Brian
