When President Biden banned “ghost guns” last summer, I was incredibly grateful for the swift and decisive action to address this public safety threat. Unfortunately, a federal judge in Texas has tried to keep this loophole that allows violent criminals to obtain weapons they otherwise would be prohibited from purchasing.

Ghost guns – build-your-own guns made from kits and parts without serial numbers, sold without restrictions or background checks – have allowed anyone, including criminals and children , to own guns. Without serial numbers, when these guns are found at crime scenes, the authorities can’t tie them back to their owners.

John, this is an embarrassment. With an online tutorial, anyone can build an AR-15-style weapon from one of these kits in just a few hours. Please sign my petition urging Congress to close this loophole. [[link removed]] SIGN HERE [[link removed]]

Hundreds of homicides and fatal shootings have resulted from these ghost guns, but Congress has yet to take action. We cannot allow unrestricted access to deadly weapons that will worsen our already disastrous gun violence problem. Guns should not be in the hands of children or violent criminals.
