AACN Welcomes New Health Policy Advisory Council Members
Congratulations to Ashley Darcy-Mahoney, PhD, NNP-BC, FAAN, who will be joining the American Association of Colleges of Nursing&rsquo;s (AACN) Health Policy Advisory Council (HPAC) as one of seven new members for a two-year term starting September 1st. Darcy-Mahoney is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Nurse Scholar and a tenured associate professor of nursing at The George Washington University.

Apply Now for the Equity-Minded Nurse Awards
Between now and August 18, the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is accepting applications for a new awards program that will recognize nurses who are helping lead the way to health equity through practice, education, research or leadership. Co-sponsored by nursing organizations, winners in five categories will receive $1,000 each plus paid travel to and attendance at the Campaign&rsquo;s health equity summit in Washington, D.C. this fall. Individuals may apply themselves or nominate an equity-minded nurse.

California Program Invites High Schoolers to Consider Nursing Careers

The Summer Health Institute for Nurse Exploration and Success, or SHINES, is a two-week immersive summer camp at the University of California Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing that introduces teens and young adults to what working in nursing and allied health professions is like. The program is supported by a Health Equity Innovations Fund award, sponsored by the AARP Center for Health Equity Through NursingSM and the Campaign for Action. How Do We Achieve Health Workforce Well-Being?
Using the clear outline laid out in the National Academy of Medicine&rsquo;s National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being, leaders across the health sector are cultivating a movement to optimize care providers&rsquo; well-being. Six of those leaders, including the U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, speak to the critical importance of supporting health workers and addressing the health workforce burnout crisis.

The Mississippi Action Coalition in collaboration with the Nurses on Boards Coalition invites other Action Coalitions to join in a series of town hall meetings to discuss strengthening nurses&rsquo; voices to improve health equity. Be a part of raising the tide of nurse trustees pursuing health equity through collaboration and community-based approaches. HHS Health Equity Leadership Fellowship: Apply by August 1
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is offering a limited number of fellowships to provide training in health equity issues and leadership to early career individuals to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority and other disadvantaged populations. It is an opportunity for individuals interested in working at HHS to advance health equity and address the social determinants of health through health policies, programs, and practices and to enhance skills and competencies necessary for federal leadership service among participants.

RWJF&rsquo;s Health Data For Action (HD4A) program will support innovative research that uses data to answer important research questions and inform health policy by connecting researchers with data they need. The ANA Innovation Awards highlight, recognize, and celebrate nurse-led innovation that improves patient safety outcomes. The awards offer $25,000 for an individual nurse and $50,000 for a nurse-led team. Research, educational interventions, care delivery models and new business or service are among the many categories.
