The bill has been introduced as S. 1 in the Senate, meaning it is the Senate’s top legislative priority. There is no question that passing this bill will be an uphill fight, and it will take time to pass like any major piece of legislation. But we can’t give up now, and we need to show our support for this bold piece of legislation to let Congress know how important it is to protect the freedom to vote.

Thanks to support from thousands of Common Cause members like you — and countless hours of grassroots campaigning — we came within two Senate votes of passing this bill over the GOP’s filibuster last year.

Since then, we’ve continued to see a massive wave of anti-voter state laws, proving we can’t give up this fight. We need the Freedom to Vote Act now more than ever.
