Dear Friend,
It was a sacred honor to personally
meet Cardinal Kung, when he celebrated his 98 years of life, 70 years
of priesthood, 50 years of being a bishop and 20 years a
cardinal. Here is a photo when I presented him with a crucifix as a
gift. I feel very blessed to have had that holy and intimate moment
with a saintly prelate. Sadly, there have been no initiatives to have
Cardinal Kung’s cause for sainthood open.
Just wanted to remind everyone
that this evening, at 6:00 PM Eastern
Time, Raymond Cardinal Burke
will celebrate a Pontifical High Mass that will be livestreamed, at
the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist in Stamford, Connecticut. The
Holy Mass is sponsored by the Cardinal Kung Foundation, which was
established in honor of Cardinal Ignatius Kung Pin-Mei, a white martyr
for the Church. Cardinal Kung was imprisoned for thirty years, then
under house arrest, until he was released to travel to the United
States, for medical treatment, where he died in 2000 at the age of
98.
The Pontifical High Mass is being
offered in honor of Our Lady of Sheshan and the persecuted bishops,
clergy, consecrated religious and laypeople (especially those held in
prisons and under house arrests) who are righteous members of the
underground Roman Catholic Church.
