John, we know that democracy works when voters get to pick their leaders. We also know that if it were the other way around — if leaders got to pick their voters — that wouldn’t be a true democracy.

And yet, that’s the situation we find ourselves in. Politicians around the country get to gerrymander districts to the point that they are simply choosing their voters and electing themselves.
