John,
When the Q2 fundraising totals came in, we noticed that Lauren Boebert reported a fundraising haul that was much, much worse than anyone thought. In fact, many challengers and first-time candidates in districts with tough incumbents or a strong partisan lean against them tend to raise as much or more than Boebert did.
Here’s why this is worth mentioning: with Boebert clearly struggling to raise the funds she will need to be even slightly competitive with Adam Frisch, her likely Democratic opponent, the options open to her for communicating with voters start to narrow.
But here’s the real kicker—our defamation lawsuit against her and Fox News is going to force Boebert’s campaign to spend precious resources on her legal defense (which she will lose, because she has no real defense). This, combined with our strategy to plaster anti-Boebert messages on billboards in key areas throughout her district, puts Boebert in a serious bind. Her campaign will have to choose whether to try and counter our billboards and any other spending we may dedicate against her, and if they can’t contest our messaging, we may go completely unopposed.
