John,

We’re living in a new era for the entertainment industry. With the advent of streaming services and artificial intelligence, the writers and actors who have entertained and moved us are facing exploitation and the risk of being replaced by AI.

That’s why the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) are striking, demanding better terms from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Writers and actors are standing up against corporate greed and demanding fair compensation for the value they bring to a fundamentally human industry.

Rather than negotiate with the unions in good faith, the AMPTP has chosen to decry the strikes as “unrealistic” and “damaging.” Yet major Hollywood CEOs have benefitted from massive paydays [[link removed]] while the majority of union members are struggling to make ends meet, and studios are prepared to just wait striking workers out until they can no longer afford to stop working.

I’m proud to stand with members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA in their fight for better wages and job security. Join me in showing your support for our screenwriters and actors. [[link removed]]

In solidarity,
Ro
