** Welcoming Makayla, Announcing a New Fellowship Program
------------------------------------------------------------

We are delighted to welcome Makayla Peterson ([link removed]) to the PEAK team for the next year. She comes to us via Bowie State University’s Philanthropy Fellowship program, a new partnership between ABFE, Bowie State, and PEAK dedicated to preparing graduate students of color for leadership roles in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.

The goal of this program is to lift up the voices and lived experiences of a new cadre of leaders and reimagine philanthropic and nonprofit policies and programs in ways that can affect positive change for our communities.

Makayla is one of eight fellows in the inaugural class of Bowie State University’s Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management degree program, which is designed to provide advanced education and training in managing philanthropy and nonprofit organizations. PEAK will also offer full scholarships to all eight fellows to participate in Grants Management 101 starting in August. In addition, Satonya Fair will bring her breadth of knowledge and courageous perspectives to the classroom in the coming year as a guest lecturer for the Bowie State philanthropy programs.

** JOURNAL
------------------------------------------------------------

** Contribute to Our Next Journal
------------------------------------------------------------

Coming this fall, the next issue of the Journal will take a deep dive into our Learn, Share, Evolve Principle ([link removed]) . We are looking for short stories from the field that lift up how the PEAK community is leading the way in the evolution of philanthropy. Cocreate this edition with us by sharing
* how your organization listens to and learns from your nonprofit partners and shares that knowledge;
* ways you have supported people working in nonprofits; or
* how insights from grantee reports inspired action.

** PEER NETWORK SPOTLIGHT
------------------------------------------------------------

** Exploring Identity
------------------------------------------------------------

PEAK offers members diverse peer spaces for learning, sharing, and evolving in our thriving chapters ([link removed]) and peer groups ([link removed]) . Each month, we showcase the meaningful programming and networking taking place in these volunteer-led spaces.

Last month, our PEAK Northeast chapter and Latinx Caucus offered unique learning opportunities designed to help participants explore and appreciate facets of cultural identity and heritage. New PEAK Northeast members gathered for a one-of-a-kind learning opportunity at the New York Botanical Garden for an outing that featured the special exhibit African American Garden: The Caribbean Experience and the Indigenous Perspectives Tour. The gathering surfaced stories of migration, creativity, and resilience that fostered a deeper awareness of the diverse cultural heritages embedded within the natural world.

The Latinx Caucus hosted a conversation titled “Three Strategies for Embracing Your Authentic Self and Living Joyfully.” The featured speaker, CarolLaine M. García, PhD, shared strategies she used to accept, adore, and elevate her intersectional identity as an Afro-Latina immigrant woman and build a brand based on authentic leadership and a focus on personal wellness.
