Urge Congress Not to Gut Fundamental Endangered Species Act Protections

Dear John,

This week, the House is gearing up to vote on two resolutions, which already passed the Senate, that aim to gut fundamental protections under the Endangered Species Act.

S.J. Res. 9 would nullify the final rule issued in November 2022 protecting the lesser prairie-chicken under the ESA. The lesser prairie-chicken has declined in abundance by 20% since 2021 and now inhabits less than 10% of its former range.

Similarly, S.J. Res. 24 would eliminate ESA protections for the northern long-eared bat, which faces extinction due to the impacts of white-nose syndrome, a deadly disease affecting cave-dwelling bats across the continent.

What You Can Do
Please contact your US representative and urge them to vote NO on these anti-conservation resolutions. ([link removed])

Share our action alert with family, friends, and co-workers, and encourage them to take action, too. As always, thank you very much for your help!

Sincerely,

Kate Dylewsky
Assistant Director, Government Affairs
