In 1944, Dan West had a revolutionary idea to feed the hungry. Instead of handing out food, he’d provide resources like livestock, seeds and training so families in need had the tools to feed themselves not just for a meal but for generations.

To celebrate 79 years of hard work, we looked back at some of our earliest accomplishments from the archives:

Today, Heifer’s work continues with more than 42.9 million farming families who have received life-changing support from Heifer. Thank you for all that you do to help end the cycle of hunger and poverty once and for all.
