John,
In May, we asked you to reach out to state senators to keep Californians housed. 10,000 of you showed up and used your voices to protect our California dream and advance the Homelessness Prevention Act from the State Senate to the State Assembly!
Today, we're asking you all to get loud again!
California is the most unaffordable state to live in and too many of us still pay more than half our paychecks every month on housing. It’s up to us to do something about this! Together, we can protect our right to stay in our homes and off the streets.
Click here to ask your Assemblymember to pass this Act and ensure all Californians can continue to call our state their home, now and in the future.
The Homelessness Prevention Act, AKA SB 567:
Closes loopholes so owners cannot evict tenants and immediately rent units out again for higher prices
Makes owners give renters at least 120 days prior notice to terminate their tenancy
Prevents “renovictions” so owners cannot remodel without explanations and showing proof (such as permits)
Gives tenants the right to return to renovated units without a rent increase
The Homelessness Prevention Act will go to a final vote in the Assembly soon, will you join us in urging your Assemblymember to pass the bill?
Thank you for using your voice to defend our communities against real estate billionaires who continue to harm our communities. Send your Assemblymember a message today!
In solidarity,
Lydia Avila, We Are California and
Amado Uno, MVP Director
