And while those are certainly important, I’m reaching out about something a little different today: My dad. I know change is possible in a single generation, because that’s the story of my dad. My dad immigrated from Mexico in 1950. He worked in the fields right alongside my grandparents whenever he wasn’t in school, picking tomatoes and cotton. After a few years of high school, my dad marched down to the local recruiting office and signed up to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two tours in Vietnam and, in exchange for his service, received his U.S. citizenship. Then in the decades that followed, my dad was able to turn the skills from his service into a good-paying union job that provided a middle-class upbringing for me and my sister. He never had it easy. But with hard-work and determination, my dad paved his way from the fields to the middle class. And now, I’m fighting to ensure that every family across Oregon and the nation has that same chance. In Congress, I’m fighting everyday to level the playing field for families like yours and mine. Whether it’s working to raise the minimum wage, create good-paying union jobs, or lower costs for working families, we have a lot of work to do, so I need you in this fight with me. So please, can I count on you to make a donation to my re-election campaign so I can continue to fight for better opportunities for families like ours?
Thank you, Andrea |
