Dear John,

We have some exciting news to share from our neighboring state of Oregon. In a significant development that mirrors our shared goals for responsible gun ownership, the U.S. District Court has ruled in favor of Oregon's Measure 114. This essential legislation, which closely aligns with the principles we champion here in Washington, has been deemed fully consistent with the U.S. Constitution.

This decision is the result of concerted efforts by our peers at the Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety, our community here in Washington, and a collective of dedicated individuals advocating for the prevention of gun violence. Judge Karin Immergut's detailed 122-page order upholds the new gun safety laws introduced in Oregon, including the banning of large-capacity magazines and the requirement of a permit before purchasing firearms. This decision is a profound affirmation that Second Amendment rights are not unrestricted and are accompanied by duties and responsibilities that serve public safety.

We celebrate this victory alongside those who have endured the pain of losing loved ones to gun violence and all Oregonians who demanded change. This hard-won triumph echoes the U.S. Supreme Court's stance that Second Amendment rights come with obligations, underscoring the premise of our work here at the Alliance for Gun Responsibility.

Despite this momentous victory, there's more work to be done. A state court will deliberate on a separate lawsuit this fall, and victory at both the state and federal levels is necessary to enact this voter-approved law fully. We will continue to extend our support and share the lessons we've learned here in Washington to further the cause of gun safety in Oregon and beyond.

We call on you to keep the spirit of advocacy alive. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word about our cause, your ongoing support is invaluable. [[link removed]]

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to safer communities. We firmly believe that united, we can make a tangible difference, fostering a safer environment across state lines.
