Folks, it shouldn’t be hard to say that white nationalism is racist and an extreme threat to our democracy and country.
But recently, Senator Tommy Tuberville, who represents Alabama, home to one of the highest populations of Black Americans in the country, refused to acknowledge just that.
You see, when asked about his disturbing comments saying white nationalists should be allowed to serve in the military, Tommy Tuberville doubled down on his defense of white nationalists by wrongfully claiming they aren’t “necessarily racist,” and only recently, after weeks of waiting and mountains of public pressure, did he finally admit he was wrong.
Anyone making comments like this shouldn’t hold positions of power, especially not a U.S. Senator.
That’s why our grantees in Alabama and across our target regions are working to stop Republicans like Tommy Tuberville who are doing nothing but damaging our democracy and serving as a mouthpiece for far-right extremists.
Can you pitch in today to fuel their work? Your contribution helps support our grantees who are busy registering voters, promoting civic engagement, and fighting for fairness and justice.
